We are a nonprofit organization providing our community with free information on end-of-life options.
The mission of the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Central Texas, a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers, is to help people make educated, practical choices that will meet their needs at the end of life.
We accomplish this by:

Conducting and publishing regular surveys of funeral home and cemetery prices
Assisting individuals and families in making end-of-life decisions by presenting them with a wide variety of choices to meet their needs
Providing information about area resources to assist families with end-of-life planning
Promoting advance planning as a way to preserve or restore dignity and independence at the end of life
Providing information about area bereavement resources
Researching and evaluating innovative solutions for end-of-life needs
Training professionals and others about end-of-life issues
Networking with other organizations and agencies that share our mission and goals

FCACTX Finances FCACTX’s operating budget, which is funded by new memberships and member donations, covers expenditures typically associated with running a successful nonprofit organization: newsletters, printing, postage, office space, telephone, internet, credit card processing fees, insurance, website development and maintenance, and professional assistance from independent contractors, as needed. FCACTX has no employees. Board members, office staff, and speakers are all FCACTX members, who volunteer their time and skills to reach out to, educate, and serve our community.
FCACTX Board of Directors FCACTX has a nine-person Board. All Board members serve without compensation. One-third of the directors are elected or appointed each year on a rotating basis. Directors serve for three year terms. They may be reappointed or reelected to a second or third consecutive term, after which the director is ineligible for reelection or appointment to the Board for a period of not less than one year. All members of the Board must be members of the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Central Texas in good standing as defined in our Bylaws. No person associated in any manner with an entity that provides funeral goods or services is eligible to serve on the Board.
